Role of the Trumbull County Board of Elections

In Ohio, each county has its own Board of Elections.  The Board of Elections is responsible for administering elections at a local level.  The Boards consist of four members. The Boards are bipartisan, with two members from each major political party.

The Board of Elections are coordinated by the Ohio Secretary of State’s Office.  The Secretary of State’s Office trains Board of Elections members and staff, as well as providing them with guidance on elections and legal issues, and campaign finance information.

The Board of Elections handles all petitions for local, legislative, and congressional district offices.  It also handles petitions for voting on local issues and options.
